Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP has also decided to organise farmers' awareness initiatives in the State in line with the party's nationwide trail of conferences to promote the farm laws against which the peasants have been protesting for the eighteenth straight day.
Informing about the decision, president of Odisha BJP Krushak Morcha, Pradeep Purohit today said the farmers' conferences will be organised at Balasore, Bargarh, Jeypore and Cuttack.
Purohit alleged that some outfits with vested interests are misleading farmers on the three farm laws brought in by the central government. He added that the farm reforms have been brought in for the benefits of 70 per cent of the farmers and there is no question of rollback.
"Some farmers' organisations which are influenced by Congress and CPI ideologies are misinterpreting the farm laws and influencing the people. We are going to organise conferences in four places like Balasore, Bargarh, Jeypore and Cuttack to spread awareness among the people on the benefits of the new reforms," Purohit said.
The BJP has decided to hold the awareness campaigns in over 700 districts and also 100 press conferences across the country in favour of the three farm laws.
Meanwhile, Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said the Congress party as always will support the farmers and their stand against the three new farm laws.
"The Congress party will reach out to all farmers in the rural areas and mandis. The party will unite the farmers and fight for their interest," Bahinipati said.
He termed the Katni Chatni in the paddy procurement in Odisha as unfortunate and demanded immediate intervention of the State government.
