Fake tea manufacturing unit busted in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: Police on Monday evening busted a duplicate tea manufacturing unit and seized raw materials worth lakhs of rupees from Kharda Sahi under Chandol police limits in Kendrapara district.

Acting on complaints from some tea-marketing firms about the sale of duplicate products in Kendrapara, a special team of Chandol police conducted surprise raid on a house at Kharda Sahi and seized huge cache of low-grade tea, duplicate labels of many branded tea companies, tea-processing machines and raw materials.

Sub-standard hair oil packed in bottles with labels of branded companies were also seized during the raid.

Even as the owner of the manufacturing unit is absconding, police have detained a man believed to be engaged in cleaning of the house. Interrogation to elicit more information from the detained person about the owner and the manufacturing unit is underway.
