Eggs hurled at Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s cavalcade

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants hurled eggs on the carcade of BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik in Bolangir this evening.

The incident occurred near Salebhata when the chief minister was on his way to Bargarh after conducting a roadshow in Bolangir. Patnaik is slated to address a public meeting in Bargarh tomorrow.

According to reports, several youths hurled eggs on the CM’s carcade which subsequently sparked tension in the area. Police resorted to lathicharge and later conducted a flag march in the region.

Former MP Balagopal Mishra and his supporters were detained and police resorted to mild lathicharge to bring situation under constrol. Meanwhile, Bolangir SP said some private vehicles were hit by eggs and stones as the chief minister's cavalcade had already crossed the place where the incident occurred.

Sources said the egg hurling incident is the outcome of brewing resentment over BJD ticket distribution.
