Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Wednesday served a notice to actor Varsha Priyadarshini to appear before it on December 10 for hearing over a divorce petition filed by her husband and BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty.
Mohanty’s counsel appearing in the case told media persons that all relevant and factual positions have been produced before the court.
“It has been mentioned before the court that despite seven years into their wedlock, my client and Varsha have never consummated their marriage. This apart, the court has also been informed about the cruelty and harassment faced by my client,” he said.
He further mentioned that the transfer petition over the case filed by the respondent in the Supreme Court has not been listed for hearing, so as and when it comes, we will reply in the apex court.
Speaking to media, MP Anubhav said, “I respect Varsha and hope that whatever happens, it turns out to be good for both of us. I am ready to fully honour whatever order the court passes on in connection with the case.”
It may be noted that Varsha filed a domestic violence case against her husband under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act against the MP for allegedly assaulting and harassing her.
Varsha has alleged that Anubhav is a habitual drunkard and he often drinks with his friends at home. Leveling another serious allegation, she had said Anubhav has extramarital affairs with multiple women from the Ollywood industry.
In his response, the BJD leader however alleged that his wife was not allowing sexual relations and natural conjugal life. He filed a 47-page divorce petition in Delhi’s Patiala court.
In turn, Varsha moved the Supreme Court urging transfer of the divorce petition filed by her husband at Delhi’s Patiala House court to a family court in Cuttack, Odisha.
