Keonjhar: In yet another instance of disrespect towards the dead,body of tribal youth was carried on trolley after his relatives were allegedly denied ‘Mahaprayan’ van, the government-sponsored hearse.
The shocking incident was reported from Dhobadiha area in the districts today. The deceased Kalia used to work as a labourer in the municipality.
"Kalia worked as a laborer in Keonjhar municipality but left job after he became sick for several days.Today, he died while undergoing treatment. On being denied government Mahaprayana van, we were to carry the body on trolley for cremation," said Binu, one of the relative of the deceased.
Biswaranjan Sahoo, a local resident said that it was a shameful incident that government facilities failed to reach a poor in the mineral rich district. Though the state government is implementing many schemes and programmes, such welfare schemes still eludes many.
“The district administration has DMF fund and government should use it to by some more hearse vehicles so that the poor and needy will not have to suffer," said Sahoo.
