Bhubaneswar: Despite incessant rains, there is no flood-like situation in any part of Odisha, informed Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi on Sunday.
However, some areas are still inundated due to the heavy rain triggered by low pressure in last two days, Sethi said.
The places which witnessed excessive rains today are Bargarh, Sambalpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul and Kandhamal. Meanwhile, Burla recorded an all time high rainfall of 622 mm.
"In Burla, 622 mm rainfall has been recorded, 510 mm in Maneswar, 487 mm in Dhankauda block of Sambalpur , 430 mm in Birmaharajpur and 380 mm in Boudh,” Sethi said.
Official sources said 14 blocks in Odisha have witnessed 200 mm of rainfall and 12 wards in Sambalpur have suffered severe damage where 1.25 lakh people have been affected.
Sethi further informed that two persons have died in separate rain related incidents in the State. One person died of snake bite in Tarabha village in Subarnapur.
Water level of major rivers is also decreasing and there is no flood situation currently in the State, Sethi added.
