Dhenkanal: A middle-aged man allegedly died unattended in the premises of the District Headquarters Hospital in Dhenkanal moments after he tested positive for Covid-19.
The heart-breaking video of a woman desperately trying to revive the motionless man lying on the steps of the hospital has gone viral, showcasing the apathy of the hospital administration and a complete death of human empathy.
In the video, the woman, believed to be the man’s wife, is crying for help while furiously massaging his chest to retrieve him. However, no hospital staff or security personnel came to her aid.
According to sources, the man works in a government office at Angul and lives with his family at Dhenkanal. On Monday, he went for a Covid test at the District Headquarters Hospital in Dhenkanal where he tested positive for the infection. The Chief District Medical Officer CDMO) at the Hospital said that after testing positive the man collapsed and died instantaneously. It is believed that he was unable to bear the shock of having been infected with the virus which could have triggered a heart attack. The hospital authorities are still to clarify the reason behind the man’s sudden death.
