Bhubaneswar: While the tropical cyclone 'Pabuk' is approaching gradually and is likely to emerge in the Andaman Sea in the 5th of January, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has stated that it will not have any impact on Odisha.
"The cyclonic storm 'Pabuk' lay centred at about 870 km east-southeast of Port Blair and is very likely to move west-northwestwards and emerge into Andaman Sea around the forenoon of January 5, 2019. Thereafter it is very likely to move northwestwards and cross Andaman Islands around evening/ night of January 6. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-northwestwards and then recurve northeastwards towards Myanmar coast and weaken further during January 7 or 8, 2019," said an official of the Regional Met Department.
"The latest forecast reveals that the cyclonic storm will not have any impact on Odisha," confirmed expert Sudarsan Mishra.
Dry weather is likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha and there is no specific warning issued for Odisha or its fishermen so far, officials said.
Meanwhile, cold wave conditions continued to sweep most parts of Odisha with eleven places recording minimum temperatures below 10 degree Celsius, the latest forecast suggested.
On Friday, Phulbani in Kandhamal district recorded minimum temperature of 6.5 degree Celsius while Angul and Keonjhar followed with 8 deg C and 8.4 deg C.
Daringbadi, Sonepur and Jharsuguda also shivered at 8.5, 8.6, and 8.6 degress, sources in the Indian Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar stated.
While the capital city recorded minimum temperature of 12.4 deg C, Cuttack was slightly low at 11.4 degree Celcius.
