Cuttack: In a case of alleged police excess, a policeman, posted at the Narasinghpur Police station in Cuttack district allegedly made a college-going minor girl undergo pregnancy test after detaining her for three nights at the police station.
The Child Welfare Committee has accused the police of terminating the girl's pregnancy.
As per reports, a complaint was filed with the Narasinghpur police after a minor girl went missing few days ago. However, after allegedly tracing the girl, the police did not take her home and instead detained her at the police station for three nights.
As per the allegations made by the girl's family, an official at the police station even made the girl undergo pregnancy test without obtaining the consent of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
The Child Welfare Committee has also taken serious cognizance of the allegations.
Speaking to OTV, Amiya Bhusan Biswal, a member of CWC said, "The girl was forced to abort in an unscientific manner. In addition to that she was threatened that her parents would be framed in a false case if she opened her mouth about the abortion."
Alok Ranjan Ray, the SDPO of Athagarh said, "A case has already been registered in this connection. However, a case under POCSO act will be filed. I will inquire about the allegations myself with the lady constables at the police stations," Ray said.
