Bhubaneswar: With Odisha reporting its highest ever single-day tally of 4445 Covid-19 cases on Monday, the State government assured the people of the State that the pandemic management system and healthcare facilities across the State are in full readiness to meet any eventualities.

A total of 1576 Covid-19 patients are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Odisha as the State is witnessing a steady surge in the number of daily positive cases for the past several days.

As per official sources, while 823 Covid-19 patients are getting treatment in various government hospitals, 753 patients have been admitted to different private hospitals.

As many as 9,008 beds are available for the treatment of Covid-19 patients at various hospitals across the State including 4,640 beds in private hospitals and 4,368 beds in government hospitals.

The State has total number of 2018 ICU beds and currently 424 patients are availing the facilities at various government and private hospitals.

As far as occupancy in the government hospital is concerned, 104 patients are being treated in ICUs. The State-run hospitals have the total of 524 ICU beds at their disposal. Similarly, the private hospitals have the facility of 1494 beds and 320 patients are currently getting treatment in ICUs.

Meanwhile, a total of 782 ventilators are available in the State with the government hospitals having 179 and the private hospitals availing 603 of those. Currently a total of 41 patients including 18 in the government hospitals and 59 in the private hospitals are under ventilator support.

Earlier yesterday, Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra said steps are afoot to increase the number of beds in hospitals for treatment of the Covid-19 patients.
