Cuttack: In view a sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 positive cases, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has issued revised cap on social gatherings by restricting number of guests at marriage ceremonies to 100.
Similarly, maximum 50 people will be allowed to attend funeral and death ritual related functions in CMC jurisdiction. However, strict adherence to covid appropriate behavior has been made mandatory for any functions.
"Events and gathering related to promotional activities, conference, conclaves, centenary/golden jubliee/ silver jubliee celebration of institution, annual events/functions at educational institutes are strictly prohibited," an order issued by the CMC stated.
For any kind of social gathering, the host will have to obtain necessary permission from the CMC. Such functions would be allowed in view of the requirement of the host subject to maximum participants ceiling of 100 persons.
"Any permission given earlier, if any, regarding number of participants and conduct of functions on and after 06-04-2021 shall stand modified accordingly and no separate modification order wil be issued by CMC," the statement added.
Earlier, the State government had restricted the number of people at wedding functions to 200 for the districts across the State.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government has announced night curfew at 10 districts in the State. These include Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kahalandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Through a fresh notification, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) stated that the curfew which will come into effect from April 5, will remain in force from 10 pm to 5 am till further order.
Odisha reported 452 new positive cases in last 24 hours with Khurdha recording maximum daily spike of 77 cases followed by Sundargarh (75), Nuapada (71), Kalahandi (29).
Of the new cases detected from 28 districts of the State, 267 were reported from quarantine centres while the rest 185 were local transmission cases.
