Bhubaneswar: As many as 136 more people, including 54 ODRAF/ NDRF/Fire Services personnel were tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha on Thursday, raising the State’s tally to 3386, said State Health and Family Welfare Department.
Of the fresh Covid-19 cases, 134 were detected from quarantine centres and two are local contacts, added State I & PR department.
With this, the number of active Covid-19 cases now stands at 1092 while 2282 patients have so far recuperated and 9 persons have lost their lives due to the disease.
Khurda district reported highest 17 coronavirus cases followed by Kandhamal (15), Mayurbhanj (9), Keonjhar (8), Cuttack (7) and Jharsuguda (4).
Similarly, three each Covid-19 cases were detected from Dhenkanal, Puri and Ganjam districts, two each cases from Nuapada and Kalahandi while one each case ere reported from Kendrapara and Sambalpur.
Ganjam district topped the Covid-19 tally in the state with 652 cases, followed by Jajpur with 326 and Khurda with 307 cases.
A total of 3,333 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative tests to 188743.
Earlier on Wednesday, 110 persons tested positive for Covid-19 while 149 Covid-19 patients recovered from the disease.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday said the Health Department will launch an integrated campaign across the state for house-to-house active surveillance against coronavirus and other diseases.
“As the next few weeks are critical in controlling the spread of coronavirus as well as monsoon-induced communicable diseases, the Health Department will conduct a campaign for active surveillance against Covid-19, co-morbidities, TB, malaria and diarrhoea,” said the CM.
