Bhubaneswar: After flights and trains, passengers coming to Bhubaneswar from other States by road will now have to produce Covid-19 negative report (RT-PCR test) at time of entry into the city limits.
Through a tweet, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday informed that people coming to Bhubaneswar by any transport (Bus, train, flight, private cars, waterways) from other State will have to produce RT-PCR negative report (obtained within 72 hours of entry) or final vaccination certificate (after two doses of vaccination).
People coming without such report shall have to undergo 7-days mandatory home/institutional quarantine, the tweet read.
Meanwhile, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said, “As per government order, we have introduced the new system at railway stations and airport from today. It is now mandatory for those coming to Bhubaneswar to carry negative RT-PCR report (obtained 72 hours prior of their journey). If anyone arrives without the negative Covid report from other states, they will have to undergo 7-days quarantine.”
Chaudhary further informed that special teams have been deployed at railway stations and airport to collect data including address and contact numbers if anybody arrives without the negative Covid report. Apart from this, another provision has been made to conduct on-the-spot testing at airport if anybody shows Covid symptoms, he added.
The BMC commissioner further said that 4 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected from the Utkal University on Monday.
“Already detail contact tracing is underway. Once the contact tracing is done, we are taking steps for subsequent covid testing of others. If required, we will take appropriate decision on the matter,” Chaudhary added.
