Bhubaneswar: Despite a spurt in COVID-19 cases, Odisha is witnessing a positive trend as far as the recoveries are concerned. National Health Mission (NHM) director Shalini Pandit on Monday informed that the overall COVID-19 recovery rate in the State is 67 per cent which is better than other States and as well as the national average which stands at 51 per cent.
With over 11,500 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, the COVID infections in India on Monday rose to 3.32 lakh. The death toll also crossed the 9,500-mark to stand at 9520 deaths. While nearly 1.7 lakh people have recovered, there are over 1.5 lakh active infections in the country.
In the past 24 hours, Odisha reported 146 more COVID-19 recoveries, taking the total to 2,854. Total COVID-19 cases in the state today reached 4055 after detection of 146 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
As per Health and Family Welfare Department, a highest of 26 patients from Cuttack district recovered, followed by 23 from Khurda, 18 from Ganjam, 13 from Mayurbhanj, 12 from Gajapati, 11 each from Bhadrak and Bolangir, 5 each from Kandhamal, Koraput and Rayagada, 4 from Kalahandi, 3 each from Jajpur, Nayagarh, 2 each from Dhenkanal, Puri and Nuapada and 1 from Jagatsinghpur.
As per official sources, the recovery rate is improving since June 1, 2020 with 100 plus recoveries on most of the days since. The highest of single-day recovery was reported on June 7 when 178 patients had recuperated from the disease.

Ganjam district, which tops the district-wise COVID-19 tally with 690 positive cases, has posted highest of 613 recoveries in the State, followed by Jajpur district with 293, Khurda with 259 and Balasore with 190 recoveries.
