Bhubaneswar: In view of a surge in COVID-19 positive cases, Khurda district administration has extended the institutional quarantine period for returnees from existing seven days to 14 days.
In a letter to all block development officers (BDOs) of the district, Khurda Collector has highlighted instances where that returnees, who are discharged after undergoing seven days of quarantine, are found positive in the test report while undergoing home quarantine.
Some of the rural households do not have separate toilet facilities which is one of the conditions set for home quarantine norms by the State government.
“Block Development Officers are instructed to extend the quarantine period of the returnees in temporary medical camps (TMCs) in all the blocks of the district. If the returnee is found asymptomatic, then they can be discharged from the TMC after 14 days and paid Rs 2000 (account payee cheque) along with discharge certificate,” the official notification read.
According to official sources, the field staff have been asked to monitor the health conditions of the returnees after completion of their institutional quarantine period for another seven days.
