Rourkela: In view of rising COVID-19 cases, Rourkela administration has decided to introduce stricter quarantine norms for returnees and travellers coming to the city. Now every person coming to Rourkela will have to spend 14-days in home or institutional quarantine.
The norm will be applicable for people coming from 14 COVID-19 hotspot districts in the State including Khurda, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Puri, Jagatsinghpur,Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Gajam,Balsore, Nayagarh,Keonjhar, Jharsuguda and Gajapati, informed Rourkela ADM, Aboli Sunil Naravane.
As per the State I &PR department, as many as 66 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Sundergarh district in the last 24 hours.
“As there has been a rise in COVID-19 in several districts, people coming from hotspot areas to Rourkela will have to remain in 14-day quarantine (home, institutional or paid) as per advice of doctors. After their arrival in Rourkela, people will have to register themselves at registration counter at BPUT,” said Naravane.
Even grooms coming to Rourkela from outside for marriage will also have to first remain in quarantine for 14-days. Only after completing the prescribed quarantine period, they will be allowed to marry and return to their native places, Naravane added.
Rourkela administration further clarified that quarantine norm will also be applicable for workers from other districts. For those coming to Rourkela and returning within 72 hours, they will not have to register themselves, but they cannot join the local people here.
“Any resident from Rourkela travelling to other part in the State even for five hours will have to undergo 14-day quarantine,” Naravane added.
