Jajpur: A team of Congress delegation led by president of women wing of the party, Bandita Parida on Saturday came down heavily on the police for their lackadaisical approach in handling the case of two-year-old girl 'Pihu' who had gone missing four months ago while playing in her village Madhusudanpur under Binjharpur police station in Jajpur district.
The team of Congress leader discussed with the investigating officers at Binjharpur police station and Superintendent of Police (SP) over the progress of the probe into the case after meeting the parents of the missing child at their village.
Apprehending that a child lifting gang is working behind it, the party has warned the government of a state-wide mass movement if such incidents are not checked.
"A gang of child trafficking racket is working behind child missing cases. The gang has reached from Nayagarh to Jajpur. The two-year-old Pihu has been missing for last four months, but the police are sitting on the complaint," Bandita Parida, Odisha Women Congress president said.
"Our fight will continue until 'Pihu' comes back to her mother's lap. From district level to State, the Congress will take the movement to every lane and by-lane across the State, she added.
On the other hand, Charan Singh Meena, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jajpur said that police have left no stone unturned to trace the whereabouts of Pihu.
"I have instructed the supervision and investigating offices to take sincere efforts to trace out the missing child," the SP said.
In a similar development, another minor girl has gone missing in Nayagarh district from where the sensational murder of five-year-old girl 'Pari' has sent shockwaves across the State.
As per reports, the three-year-old girl was last seen playing near her house at Dadhipatna village under Ranpur block in the district on Friday afternoon.
Though the parents of the girl launched a search operation, they have failed to trace her. Following the incident, a massive search operation has been launched by local police and personnel of Odisha fire services department to trace the missing girl.
