Bhubaneswar/Paradip: Alleging senior BJD leader Damodar Rout of shielding persons with criminal background, Congress leader Arindam alias Bapi Sarkhel today called the former Minister as the ring master of the crime syndicate operating in Paradip.
Sarkhel further questioned how Rout could be so sure about arrested Bapu Parida having no links with gangster Tito. Besides, the Congress leader also demanded reinvestigation of Muna Pati murder case.
"Why is BJD not agreeing to include Rout and his son Sambit Routray under the purview of investigation? Rout is shielding persons with criminal backgrounds and a few police officials are helping him. Two days back Rout said there is no link between Bapu Parida and Tito. When the Crime Branch arrested Bapu for his involvement in several cases, how can Rout give him a clean chit? Why is he (Rout) worried so much for Bapu?" asked Sarkhel.
In response to Sarkhel’s comments, BJD leader Bishnu Das said if at all there is any link between Dama Rout and Bapi, it should be established first as the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch is currently probing the matter. "I will carry out my responsibility as the district president," he added.
Moreover, taking a jibe at Dama Rout, he said, "People of the State know what kind of personality Dama Rout has. I am always afraid of Dama babu as many people support him. He is capable of regulating the progress of my political career."
Reacting to Bishnu Das’ statement, Rout said, "Bishnu Das is not of my stature. 'Ghukalia' is not a bird and Bishnu Das is not a man." Rout further alleged that Bishnu Das collects monthly donation from Bapi's aide Santosh.
