Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the arrest of suspected Al-Qaeda terrorist Mohd Abdur Rehman from Paschima Kachha village under Jagatpur police station limits on the outskirts of Cuttack city late on Tuesday night, the State government has asked Odisha Police to remain on high alert.

Talking to OTV on Thursday, principal secretary, Home, Asit Tripathy said The State Police is vigilant from the points of view of both intelligence and response.

“The Home department has already given instructions to the State Police to formulate a strategy to further strengthen its preparedness to counter urban terrorism. If necessary, we would revisit our plan of action to effectively deal with any terrorist act. We have two anti-terrorism squads under the Special Operation Group (SOG) and one squad under the Commissionerate Police. Considering the arrest of an Al-Queda terrorist, we have to be more alert in the coming days,” Tripathy said.
