Malkangiri: Every dog has its day and for a pet of MV – 17 village it was nothing short of a miraculous escape from the arrows of death.

Well the incident goes like this. Some unidentified miscreant had hit an arrow at MV – 17 villager Rita Sarkar’s pet dog. The dart had pierced the abdomen of the canine injuring it critically.

When the rescuers found the animal they tried to remove the arrow from its body but while doing so, a piece of the dart remained stuck inside its body.

Later as its condition deteriorated, Rita sought help from local veterinarians. And assistant surgeon of Mathili Veterinary Hospital, Vikash Chandra Sardar came as a godsend for the dying animal.

Dr. Sardar performed a marathon operation on the dog to remove the stuck arrow from its body and also a piece of bamboo from its mouth after administering a dose of anesthesia. Doctors said that it took around 3 hours to successfully complete the surgery.

At present, while the condition of the dog has improved, doctors have said that it will take some weeks before it can fully recover.
