Bhubaneswar: For women the embarrassment of standing in front of a police officer to register complaint in the city may soon be a thing of the past. For, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate police has launched an innovative grievance registration system- ‘i-click kiosk’ to accept complaints from women.
The fairer sex can now file complaints in small kiosks, akin to ATM booths, which is currently operational at the Bank of Baroda ATM in Saheed Nagar area, an official said.
“A complainant can use any one of the three languages - English, Hindi and Odia integrated in the system to lodge a complaint in written format. Besides, the inbuilt voice command option will also help the complainant to lodge an affair,” the official added.
Another way of registering the complaint is sending the scan copy of the written complaint using the i-click kiosk. Once the complaint gets registered, the same would be transferred to a central server and subsequently to police stations for further action.
The unique system also delivers acknowledgement of the complaint from the kiosk itself.
Officials said, the user-friendly grievance redressal system will have touch-screen interface, GPRS connectivity, inbuilt camera, microphone, scanner and printer.
Nitinjeet Singh, DCP, Bhubaneswar assured that, the response of the police will be immediate through the modern Control Room and the PCR Vans.
“This women-friendly concept is to make women feel safe in Odisha and enhance their convenient interface with the police,” he stated.
This unique system has been conceptualized and patented by Joydeep Nayak, IGP, Odisha.
