Committee to probe fire mishap at Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A three-member committee has been formed to probe the fire mishap at Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar, informed Khurda Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra. The committee headed by ADMO will conduct the inquiry to ascertain the cause of fire.

"We have constituted an inquiry committee and terms of reference have also been given. The committee has been asked to submit a report by February 6," said Mishra.

As many as 26 patients had to be shifted to other hospitals after a fire broke out on the fifth floor of Apollo Hospitals in Bhubaneswar yesterday.

According to reports, the incident occurred at about 10 am yesterday in the battery room which is close to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the private hospital.

While short-circuit caused by over-heating is stated to be the reason behind the fire, Director General, Fire Services Bijay Kumar Sharma has also directed an inquiry into the incident.
