Malkangiri: It was like a dream coming true for natives of the Maoist-hit Kuruba village under Kalimela police limits when Malkangiri district collector Manish Agarwal paid a surprise visit to the village to get firsthand account of the local people.

Agarwal visited the cut-off village along with a team of his officials and held discussion with the tribals over several issues.

Apart from meeting the locals, the district collector reviewed implementation of different government schemes in the area. He also directed the concerned officials to find out ways and means for provision of government benefits like health services, education, road, water and power supply to the villagers.

It may be noted that despite floating several tenders, the administration has been unable to successfully construct roadways and other infrastructure developments in the area due to threat from the red rebels.

Sources said, Agarwal is the first ever top level administrative official to visit the cut-off tribal region.
