Bhubaneswar: As predicted by India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of Odisha reeled under intense cold wave conditions with nine places recording a minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius.
Normal life was adversely affected in Sonepur which recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4 degree Celsius today.
Vehicular traffic in several parts was also adversely affected due to dense fog in the early morning.
Apart from Sonepur, Keonjhar recorded a minimum temperature of 5.6 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 5.8, Daringbadi 7, Sambalpur 7.4, Balasore 7.6, Cuttack 9.6, Hirakud 9.8 and Sundergarh 10 degree Celsius.
Moreover, the night temperature is very likely to fall gradually by 4 degree Celsius to 6 degree Celsius in several parts of Odisha for the next couple of days.
Earier, IMD had predicted that cold wave conditions over the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts from December 27. In view of the IMD’s alert, Special Relief Commissioner had also issued advisory for district Collectors to take necessary measures to protect people from the cold conditions.
