Mentioning the security arrangements, the CM said that security arrangements have been made for the foreign students to avoid any kind of untoward situation in the future.
“I have asked for a full report on the whole matter. The Vice-Chancellor has invited them to return to university and we will certainly take care of their safety in future,” CM Naveen Patnaik said.
Meanwhile, citing security concerns 59 Afghan students have left for New Delhi by Rajdhani Express today to meet the embassy officials.
“I am not convinced, as I have said that we are not satisfied at all,” an Afghan student said.
“Once we reach New Delhi we will meet the authorities at our embassy and then only we can decide the next course of action. Till then we cannot say if we will leave the University or not,” an Afghan student added.
Some of the foreign students also became nostalgic while boarding the train as they loved the life of the university and the city of Cuttack
“We will miss the lovely city, Cuttack and very kind people of Cuttack and our lovely Ravenshaw University,”
Meanwhile, Registrar Samarpriya Mishra informed that the students had been to New Delhi to meet the embassy officials.
“The students had telephoned me. They did not want to leave the university. They also met their teachers. They also asked us to pray for their return. The students were also satisfied with the security arrangements,” said Samarpriya Mishra, Registrar, Ravenshaw University.
