State Govt directives, nameplates to be issued in Odia

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday ordered to issue government directives in Odia, including all nameplates writing and advertisements henceforth.

Presiding over a ministerial committee meeting at the secretariat here, Patnaik also announced to issue scholarships to encourage higher education and research in Odia language.

The high level meeting also decided to set up an ‘Odia Open University’.

Considering the advancing digitalisation of languages, the meeting agreed to digitise and preserve some of the well-known books written in Odia.

A decision was also taken to fill the vacancies in Odia departments of various schools, colleges and universities of the State.
