Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj temple administration in Bhubaneswar has decided to impose a complete ban on consumption of tobacco products on the temple premises from January 15.

Chewing of pan, gutkha and consumption of any narcotics substance will be strictly prohibited on the temple premises and those found violating the norms will have to pay a fine of Rs 100, the temple authorities informed.

Sources said the temple administration has come up with the initiative as chewing of pan and gutkha make the temple premises dirty.

Citing that visitors complain about the dirty premises and return back without visiting the temple, the administration has appealed to all nijogs to refrain from consuming pan, gutkha and other similar substance.
