Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested two miscreants for attempting to snatch a gold chain from a lady near the Exhibition ground in Bhubaneswar today.
The incident took place in the evening when both the accused attempted to snatch a chain from a school teacher identified as Leela Bala Das of Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind. However, the accused were nabbed and thrashed by locals while trying to flee.
"I was helping a blind teacher to cross the road when the accused tried to snatch my gold chain. But before he could execute the crime he was nabbed by the public," Das said.
Another eyewitness Niranjan Naik said "I saw both of them snatching the gold chain from the woman who was trying to cross the road. I immediately raised an alarm following which many gathered near the spot and nabbed the accused."
After getting information, police reached the spot and arrested both the accused.
Enraged locals also damaged the bike on which the accused had come to the spot.
