Puri: Ahead of Rath Yatra, a Central team led by Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Vivek Bharadwaj today reviewed the restoration works in cyclone Fani-affected areas of Puri district.

The 11-member inter-ministerial team reportedly visited Manitalasahi and Atheisi villages of Dugal panchayat under Satyabadi and Bhoi Sahi village of Harekrushnapur under Puri Sadar area and reviewed the restorations works.

Bharadwaj and his team also visited Sakhigopal to take stock of the damage caused to coconut farming and other agricultural crops besides reviewing the damage to houses in the area.

After reviewing the damages and restoration works, the team held a discussion with the district collector, sub collector and other administrative officials of various departments at the district Circuit house.

"After receiving details of damage assessment report from the State government, we visited the cyclone Fani ravaged areas for the second time. During our inspection, we found the destruction was massive and restoration works are currently underprogress. It may take some more time for the entire restoration works to get completed. However, normal life in the areas is returning to normalcy," said Bharadwaj.

"The central team inspected the rehabilitation works taken up by the government in the affected areas and met the cyclone-affected residents in different areas. The team will take the decision after completing the assessment of damages," informed district Collector, Balwant Singh.
