Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused the Odisha government of misleading people by making false claims on the business climate and investment opportunities in the State.
Addressing a presser, Odisha BJP secretary Lekhashri Samantasinghar said, "The State government is claiming that it is doing single window clearances and has created conducive environment for investors. In reality, Odisha's rank in 'ease of doing business' has slipped from 7th to 14th in the last three years. It proves that the government has failed to create an investment-friendly environment in the State."
Out of the 92 MoUs signed by the ruling-BJD government, only 46 have been made operational, she added.
She also alleged that the State government is now trying to shut down IMFA after large companies like Posco and ArcelorMittal pulled out their projects from Odisha.
"We are the top State in marine exports. There has been a 300 per cent increase in IT exports; 50 per cent in stainless steel, 25 per cent in iron and steel and 60 per cent aluminium production is from Odisha. While all these achievements of the State government are not visible to the eyes of the Odisha BJP, the BJP-led government at the Centre is well aware," said Patra, adding that the State BJP is making false propaganda against the government.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is presently in Mumbai to attend a road show tomorrow with an aim to impress prospective investors through 'Make-in-Odisha' Conclave.
Naveen will reportedly discuss with investors from five different sectors and urge them to invest in Odisha during the mega road show. He will also invite the investors to attend the conclave in Bhubaneswar scheduled to be held in November.
