Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has asked all the district collectors to complete the construction of 3 lakh houses for the beneficiaries of Biju Pucca Ghara Yojna (BPGY) and Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in next two months.

Reviewing the progress of different programmes through video-conferencing here today, Patnaik advised the collectors to take implementation of the schemes as a mission and ordered them to meet the target within the given period of time.

According to sources, 1,56,000 houses have been constructed under the two schemes so far and the government is aiming to make it 3,00,000 by end of March.

In order to reach the numbers, the chief minister has ordered the district collector to set a target to construct 1 lakh houses in February and 2 lakh more in March, sources said.

Meanwhile, Patnaik has also asked the collectors and project directors to take supervision of the projects by visiting to three gram panchayats every week.

Similarly, the block development officers have been ordered to visit one gram panchayat every week while the collector will be responsible for reviewing the status of the construction works.

Among others, Panchayati Raj and Law minister Arun Sahu, chief secretary G.C. Pati, development commissioner U.N. Behera and additional chief secretary to chief minister A.P. Padhi were present in the meeting.
