Cuttack: Class X students heaved a sigh of relief on Tuesday after the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) announced that it will make soft copies of all Class X text books available online.

“By tonight we’ll complete the uploading of soft copies of all the text books in our official website (www.bseorissa.in) and the students can download the same according to their convenience,” School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda said.

“We expect all Class X textbooks would be available with the dealers by April 20,” added the minister.

The Board found itself in a soup after it failed to supply the required number of text books to the book dealers before the commencement of the new academic session in April.

The situation would not have been so alarming had the Board not decided to change the Class X syllabus from the new academic session and provide textbooks to the students at least two months before the beginning of the session.

Interestingly the Board has introduced as many as 17 titles of the text books.

It was also decided that the Board would print at least four lakh books in each title this year.
