Bhanjanagar: A youth was brutally beaten to death allegedly by inebriated friends at Akhupadar village in Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district. The deceased has been identified as Sagar.
According to reports, Sagar was allegedly attacked by his friends during a feast they had organised last evening.
Though the exact reason behind the murder is still unclear, police suspect it to be the fall out of some past rivalry. However, the family members of the deceased denied any past enmity.
Sources said, Sagar was attacked and beaten to death by nearly five to six persons. Later, they disposed Sagar’s body at an agricultural field.
The matter came to light after the family members began to search for Sagar after he did not return home till late night yesterday.
Meanwhile, police have detained five persons in connection with the incident while further investigation is on.
