Umerkote: A youth surrendered before police after hacking another to death over an alleged love affair with his sister at Kumuli village under Raighar block of Nabarangpur district here on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Dipankar Biswas of Kumuli village.
According to reports, Bhabatosh Bhadra of the same village killed Dipankar over some issues relating to an affair with his sister.
The incident occurred in Kumuli playground at around 7 pm yesterday when Bhabatosh, in a fit of rage, attacked Dipankar with a sharp weapon.
The accused however surrendered before the local police and confessed to have killed Dipankar stating that the latter was into a love affair with his sister.
An FIR was lodged by Dipankar’s family at the Raighar Police Station in connection with the incident late last night.
However in the complaint, the family has alleged that Dipankar was murdered over past rivalry, police said.
"A case has been registered under section 302 of IPC. The body has been sent to Nabarangpur Hospital for post mortem. Further investigation into the incident is on," said Sub-Inspector Swaroop Kishen.
