Puri: Raising serious concerns over the hygiene standards followed in preparation of ‘Maha Prasad’ at Puri Srimandir, OTV team stumbled upon bags of insect-infested rice being supplied to the temple.
The incident came to light couple of days earlier when packets of rice meant for cooking ‘Prasad’ being carried on a trolley rickshaw were found to be worm-infested upon inspection by the OTV team.
Surprisingly, the packets had FSSAI logo but the rice inside was found to be of substandard quality with worms swarming all over.
Following reports, district Collector Arvind Agarwal ordered an investigation into the incident. "Action will be taken against the people involved in the purchase of substandard rice. We will not compromise on quality," said Agarwal.

The Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple, Pradeep Jena said use of low quality rice for ‘Maha Prasad’ is against the norms and it will not be tolerated.
"We travel hundreds of miles for the Prasad and eat with a lot of devotion in heart. It's really saddening," said a disappointed devotee.
