Women clash with police during anti-liquor protest, SDPO injured

Baripada: A senior police officer sustained severe head injury in a clash between police and locals that erupted during an anti-liquor protest in Musamari village under Rasgobindpur police limits of Mayurbhanj district on Monday.

According to reports, around eight persons were injured in the clash.

As per sources, hundreds of women took to the streets demanding eviction of a liquor preparation unit in the area.

However, the protest took an ugly turn when the agitators started ransacking within the liquor unit premises. After police officials intervened, the agitating women pelted stones at police, informed sources.

As per reports, a SDPO and eight persons were injured in the clash.

The injured have been admitted to local hospital for treatment.
