Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, two members of a family, a woman and her grand daughter, were killed after being run over by a speeding train near Patia railway station in Bhubaneswar here on Sunday.
The deceased, Asanti Pattnaik and toddler Titili Pattnaik, have been identified as residents of Hindol in Dhenkanal district.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 9.15 am today when the family of five were crossing the railway line in Patia station and had plans to visit Puri.
While three of the family had already crossed the lines, the woman and her grand daughter were still on the tracks when suddenly they were hit by a speeding train. The duo was reportedly killed on the spot.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
