Woman alleges rape by BJD member in Jajpur party office

Jajpur: In a shocking allegation, a woman today charged a BJD member of raping her inside the party office situated in Dasarathpur of Jajpur district.

A complaint regarding this was lodged by the woman at Mangalpur police station.

As per the complaint, BJD member, identified as Chandrakant Mohapatra, had asked the woman to come to the party office on Saturday night on pretext of sanctioning a house under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

"When I entered the office he asked me not to sit on the chair but sit on the bed. After I sat on the bed, he grabbed me from the back and assaulted me. I have lodged a complaint and will not rest in peace till he is punished," said the complainant.

Meanwhile, police have conducted the medical examination of the complainant and recorded her statement under Section 164, CrPC.

"A case has been registered at Mangalpur police station. Her medical examination has been conducted and statement recorded under section 161 and 164. Investigation is underway. As per allegations the incident occurred at the BJD office but the truth will come out after investigation," said Inspector-In-Charge of Mangalpur police station, Akbar Ali.

On the other hand, Jajpur district BJD president Saroj Mohapatra refuted the allegations saying "There is no BJD office in Dasarathpur region. Police are investigating the case and the culprit will surely be punished."
