Bhubaneswar: Making Odisha proud, Chandrakant Acharya won the 'Sword of Honor' for the Best Performing Cadet at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. After reaching Bhubaneswar, he visited OTV News Room today and we caught up with him for a short interview. Here are the excerpts...

I was quite happy and could see happy faces of my parents.

It was quite tough. If it is not tough we don't call it training. We had to work hard and give our best. The tasks during SSB were very tough and I did a decent job in the Group Task Officer (GTO) Tasks.

My parents encouraged me to join the army. Both of them wanted to join the forces but due to certain circumstances they were not able to.

Serving the country gives a lot of satisfaction. It’s an honorable profession. I would like to say that if they put their best foot forward they will excel for sure.

I joined Indian Army the day I was commissioned and I think that I will be doing my job with complete pride, honor and sense of responsibility.
