Bhubaneswar: Newly appointed deputy chairman of the State Planning Board and senior BJD leader Bishnu Charan Das today said he will resign as the Rajya Sabha member within two days while acting as per the ‘one man one post’ norm.
Das added he will meet the Rajya Sabha chairperson to tender his resignation in days.
Informing about his decision, Das told newsmen, "As the Odisha government has appointed me as the State Planning Board deputy chairman and a notification regarding this has been issued, I can assume the office only after quitting the Upper House member post. Therefore, I will meet Rajya Sabha chairman Hamid Ansari to tender my resignation in two days and request him to accept the same."

Notably, on Saturday, the Odisha government appointed Das for the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board position, which had been lying vacant after N Bhaskar Rao quit the post after getting elected to the Upper House last year.
Das was also appointed as the BJD Dalit cell convener.
