Bhubaneswar: The probability of estranged members, who were expelled or had left the BJD at some point in time, coming back to the party has increased with Chief Minister and party supremo Naveen Patnaik hinting that a decision can be taken on a case-to-case basis. Patnaik was speaking to mediapersons after meeting elected PRI representatives of Kalahandi district here today in the party office.
This statement issued by the BJD chief seems a positive indication for the leaders, who were either suspended or expelled or had left the regional party for some reasons, to make a comeback to the ruling party.
Besides, Naveen’s remark shows BJD is preparing a strategy to strengthen the party organisation ahead of the 2019 general polls.
''I have asked the elected representatives to work whole-heartedly for the people and take developmental programmes to the grassroots,'' the CM said.
Replying to a query fielded by newsmen on possible talks with CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury during his State visit beginning today, Naveen stated he has not yet spoken to Yechury on this.
On drinking water crisis, the chief minister said the State government is taking every necessary step to resolve the problem in different areas.
The CM also laid the foundation stone for a piped water project today in Sambalpur which will facilitate bringing Mahanadi river water to Rairakhol town from Kiakata.
