Visually challenged girl attacked brutally, reason unknown

Berhampur: A visually challenged minor girl was found with her throat slit after she was allegedly attacked by miscreants at Puhundi village under Jarada police limits here in Ganjam district. The girl has been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in a critical condition.

Family sources said, the girl had been keeping away from school owing to illness for past few days. On the fateful day, not finding her in the bedroom, the family members searched for her when they found her lying in a pool of blood with throat slit in a nearby house. They immediately rushed her to hospital and informed the police.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that her throat was slit in an attempt to kill her. As the girl is not in a condition to speak now, questioning has not started. The exact reason can be confirmed after the girl regains normalcy,’’ Additional SP Santanu Das said.
