Baripada: A teacher was beaten black and blue by some locals allegedly for sexually assaulting girl students in Bada Sahi block of Mayurbhanj district here on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as Durga Charan Giri of Marakandi primary school in Bada Sahi block.
According to reports, the teacher had sexually assaulted three girl students of the school. Palpable tension prevailed at the school premises when the matter came to the light.
Furious over the incident, locals beat the accused teacher severely. Later, police came to the spot and rescued him from the villagers' clutch.
