Bhubaneswar: A show cause notice has been issued to an Asst Prof of the Utkal University for posting results of students and objectionable remarks against the varsity authorities on various social media platforms.
As per reports, Satpathy had allegedly disclosed marks of some students on social media before the official declaration of results by the university and even criticized the authorities of the premiere institution at regular intervals.
Varsity officials said, though Satpathy had earlier resorted to a hunger strike by writing a letter to the vice-chancellor, he subsequently called off the strike without any information to the authorities.
"He posted the official letters on social media which is against the service conduct rule. So far we have not received any communication from the chairman. But we will act and take necessary action as per the rule," said Prof Ashok Das, vice-chancellor of the Utkal University.
Ranjan Bala, chairman of PG council, said the council has received several complains of misconduct and misbehaviour against Satpathy from his head of departments and even few lady faculty members.
However, Satpathy alleged that he has been a victim of harassment since his appointment as the university authorities wanted to have some other candidate for the same post. "Since then they are trying to oust me from the post and hence conspiring against me," said Satpathy.
He has also termed the allegations leveled by the varsity authorities as 'baseless' and threatened to move Human Rights Commission if the authorities continue with such harassment.
Meanwhile, Satpathy has been asked to reply to the show-cause notice within seven days.
