Rourkela: Two persons were killed, including one for allegedly practising witchcraft, in two separate incidents in Banei sub-division of Sundargarh district, police said today.

One Bhagirathi Nayak (31) allegedly beat a widow Cheringi Giri (50) to death at Barajolo village under Mogalpada police limit on Monday, they said. Nayak was arrested and confessed that he had killed the woman as he suspected her to be practising witchcraft which led to the death of his ailing child.

In an another incident a youth, Godamunda allegedly beat his father Charamunda to death at Kardakudar village under Lathikata police limit. The accused, who was arrested, took the step as he was angry over his father beating his mother frequently in an inebriated state. Both the accused were produced before a Banei court which remanded them to jail custody.
