Two arrested for attacking forest officials in Angul

Angul: Two persons were detained by the Angul police for reportedly attacking the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Basudev Nayak and other forest staff inside the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) office today.

The attackers have been identified as Pradeep Sahoo and Jitendra Samal of Purunagarh.
Following the incident, the forest conservation officials met the Angul Additional SP and demanded stringent action against the accused duo. They also sought police protection at the office premises.

According to reports, the duo had filed an RTI asking for some information from the department. This morning, the duo Pradeep and Jitendra reached the office to follow up the matter and asked Nayak about the delay. The official informed them that the procedure requires time and that it would reach them soon.

However the two men remained adamant and demanded that the information be given to them immediately. Soon an altercation ensued between the two groups following which the irate duo attacked Nayak and other officials present inside the office.

On getting information, police rushed to the spot and detained both the accused.
