Cuttack: The Supreme Court on Monday sought a response from Orissa High Court Bar Association in two weeks to file its reply in connection with the shifting of the case of CBI officers entering the house of sitting High Court judge Justice CR Dash, from Orissa High Court to Delhi. The CBI officials had trespassed into the house of Justice Dash on September 19.
Protesting the incident, the Bar Association had filed a PIL in the High Court and demanded a judicial probe into the matter.
Later, the Orissa HC also issued show cause notices to the CBI, State government and the Centre in connection with the incident.
However, the CBI had moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the matter pending before the Orissa HC, the hearing of which was scheduled for today. The apex court today issued notice to Orissa HC bar association asking to respond in two weeks.
"The officers have regretted that inconvenience was caused to the HC Judge. We haven't received the petitions, so we said we will look into it and seek instructions and verify the facts and get back. The Court has given us two weeks time. The matter will be listed after two weeks," said Gourav Khanna, Orissa HC Bar Association lawyer.
On September 19, a team of CBI sleuths entered the official residence of Justice CR Dash during its visits to the houses which former chief justice IM Quddusi had occupied earlier.
