Angul: Demanding immediate arrest of the accused who robbed a businessman in Athmallik area of Angul yesterday, Traders’ Association members observed a 12-hour bandh in the town today.

While shops and other business establishments have remained closed, vehicles have stayed off roads due to the protest. Normal life in the locality and its nearby areas has been affected due to the bandh.

According to sources, four armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 10 lakh from Mahesh Agarwal, a trader, by brandishing weapons during the wee hours yesterday. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged at Athmallik police station in this regard. However, no arrest has been made in this connection yet.

The Traders’ Association members accused the police of failing to restore law and order in the locality.
