Bhubaneswar: After coming under criticism over repeated incidents of expectant mothers being rushed to hospitals in precarious condition, the Odisha Government has now decided to provide some monetary relief through the ‘Sampurna Yojana’.
Announcing three new schemes for the purpose, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday, said, Rs 1,000 will be provided as transportation cost particularly to expectant mothers to facilitate institutional delivery in remote and inaccessible areas in the State under Sampurna Yojana.
Besides, ASHA Kalyan Yojana and a dedicated Welfare Fund for the employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) were also announced by the CM.
Official sources said, the ASHA workers will be entitled to get a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000 and a one time incentive of Rs 10,000 on attaining 60 years of age.
The NHM Employees Welfare Fund will play a crucial role as it promises compensation of up to Rs 6 lakh in case of death and up to Rs 2.5 lakh for partial disability.

“CM Naveen Patnaik has launched several new programmes for improvement of health care delivery system in the State which includes Rs 1,000 assistance for transporting expectant mothers to hospitals in remote areas,” said health and family welfare minister, Pratap Jena.
Jena further informed that Odisha Government has also decided to set up 10-bed Day Care Centres at Kandhamal, Balasore and Rourkela for diagnosis and treatment of different blood related diseases.
CM Naveen Patnaik through video conferencing also inaugurated 300 sub-centres, four women and child health buildings, 11 public health centre buildings that have been established across the state.
