Dharmagarh: In a shocking incident, a 14-month old girl was run over by a speeding tractor at Ucchula village under Kegaan police limits here in Kalahandi district today.
The incident took place while the baby, identified as Kabita Nag, was playing on the road.
Irate over the incident, locals thrashed the driver and helper of the vehicle before locking them up in the panchayat office.

Later, police rescued the duo and are interrogating them. The accused, identified as Rahul Mandal and Samar Viswas from Rajasthan were working for a contractor in Chhattisgarh, police said.
Meanwhile, the block development officer (BDO) assured the kin of the deceased to provide them Rs 5,000 as compensation from district Red Cross fund.
